It’s the Age of New Orleans

When the moon is overhead and you can see the blinking Falstaff Brewery sign between the trees, then peace will reign on New Orleans streets and Lo-o-o-o-oo-oo-ooove will steer the cabs.  This is the dawning of the Age of New Orleans.

Yup, we’re running off the rails with this blog post.  Why not?  I regret that it’s been awhile since we last posted.  As regular readers know, I like to update our blog 2-3 times per week.  It’s been almost two weeks, I think.  Well, this hiatus is all over and done with now and we’re back on track—or off track as the case may be.  One of the things that your humble narrator likes about writing this blog is that I’m not constrained by search engine optimization or trying to get people to read this blog just to make reservations.  We do our share of that, but we don’t club you over the head with it every time out the gate.  There is plenty of room for folderol and flights of fancy on this blog, the same way there is plenty of room for mischief and just plain fooling around in New Orleans.

Aquarius is a constellation in the zodiac.  If you were born between January 20 and February 18, you already know that.  Aquarius is the sign of the water-bearer.  If there is another sign more suitable to New Orleans, I don’t know it.

I’m a Sagittarius, in case you’re interested.

Welcome to the Fifth Dimension of New Orleans:  Harmony and understanding.  Sympathy and trust abounding.  No more falsehoods or derisions.  Golden living dreams of visions.  Mystic crystal revelation and the mind’s true liberation.

Alright, New Orleans isn’t so hippy-drippy as all that.  New Orleans is good, that’s all you need to know.  New Orleans isn’t a Summer of Love Broadway musical.  New Orleans is cut from a different mold.  New Orleans is improvised street level jazz eternal.  New Orleans is….  …never needing to say you’re sorry.

Stop playing that video above.  Here’s what New Orleans is really about:  The sentiments are the same but they have more oomph and chutzpah when they’re played out in the New Orleans way, with tubas and trombones and decked-out-in-one’s-finest feathered dance moves.  New Orleans doesn’t need special effects or effete lyrics.  New Orleans is all about being real:

Be a New Orleanian wherever you are.  If you can’t get to New Orleans, then at least get in the spirit of New Orleans.  This is the Age of New Orleans.  The world could use a bit more New Orleans in it.

When you finally get the opportunity to visit New Orleans, don’t waste that opportunity.  You know where you should stay.  We love where we live.  You will, too.  Our street truly is une belle esplanade.

À votre santé,

Thursday, July 13, 2017:  Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in, the sunshine in….  Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in, the sunshine in.  Let the sun shine in your heart.  New Orleans is only a short flight away.
